CSG FAQ

Q: Why are the CS Linux systems running an old version of a software package and how can I get a newer version?

We generally keep the standard version of a package distributed with the Linux distribution as the default but make newer versions easily accessible using Environment Modules. Please see the Modules FAQ for all the details on how to use modules.

If the software you need is not available via modules, please post a request to the CSG Help Desk and we'll try to get it installed.
