Installing the 68K Simulator/Build Tools on Your Personal Computer

The software development tools used in C335 have been purchased from Software Development Systems (SDS).  The package that was purchased includes "node locked" licenses for the sofware that is installed in the LH035 lab. The software on the systems in the LH035 lab include the full set of SDS 68K development tools.  There are also 25 "floating" licenses that can be used by students taking C335. The floating licenses will allow you to run a 68K simulator and all of the build tools from your personal computer running Win 95/98/NT/2000.

NOTE: The license agreement that Indiana University has with SDS specifies that the tools may not be used for commercial purposes.  Please do not use the tools for commercial purposes.

The way that the floating license system is implemented, you will have the simulator and build tools installed locally on your PC. The locally installed license file will point at the server,  moose.cs.indiana.edu.  When you attempt to start up the tools, they will contact moose.cs.indiana.edu to check out a license through your dial-up or ethernet connection with the university.  The machine "moose" is running a license server called FlexLM . FlexLM is configured to only allow 25 SDS licenses to be checked out at a time.

The following are step by step instructions to getting the tools installed on your PC:

1.) Check out an SDS tools CD from your AI.

2.) Load the CD into the drive and it may autorun or you may have to use the "my computer" icon to access the CD rom. Once the drive is accessed, the CD should autorun the setup program.
