August 2005 - Sun Workstation Replacment/Upgrades
During August 2005 we will be replacing a number of older Sun workstations
with new Dell Optiplex GX620s running Gentoo Linux. This includes several
machines in graduate student offices as well as the Suns in the graduate
student lab (LH125) and the burrow (LH004).
If you need a Sun/Solaris machine you can ssh to school.cs.indiana.edu (shark
cluster) or burrowww.cs.indiana.edu (burrow cluster) and use one of these
machines remotely. If you just need a general purpose remote login server
we recommend that you use one of the linux servers including
helga (Dual Xeon, Gentoo Linux),
hagar (Dual Xeon, Red Hat Linux), and
tank (Dual Opteron, Gentoo Linux).
