IU Usenet News Service to be retired on July 3, 2006Indiana University will retire its Usenet news service (news.iu.edu) on July 3, 2006. An article about the news service retirement is available in the IU Knowledge Base: "When will IU retire Usenet, and what will replace it?" at http://kb.iu.edu/data/atqq.html.Persons desiring to read and post articles to Usenet after IU's service is retired may use Google Groups (see reference in KB article). Instructors using local newsgroups for classes may replace these with shared mailboxes on IU's Cyrus email servers or a Web-based Message Board on the CS CGI server. Persons using the IU news service for moderating newsgroups should make other arrangements before June 30, 2006.
