How do I get in touch with WIC members?

You can get in touch with WIC members by becoming a part of the wic-all mailing list by subscribing here. You can also email the WIC faculty advisors and committee members with your question directly. Check out link for the email ids.

What is WIC? What does WIC do?

WIC is an organization to support women in computing. It is a social group formed by women from Computer Science, Informatics and Library Sciences. We organize events that provide awareness, help in technical advancement and promote social interaction between women (undergrad and grad) who are interested in computing. How do I know about the upcoming events?

We announce our events through the wic-all mailing list. The upcoming events are also regularly posted on the WIC home page.

Are all WIC events only for women?

No. Though many events are mainly targeted to women in computing, WIC also organizes events for all students. Our panels are open to both men and women.

How does WIC help incoming women?

WIC organizes events that are specifically addressed to incoming freshman and graduate women. This includes orientation breakfast, technical help and mentor guidance. We have a special page with information to help incoming students.

How many women are involved in computing at IU?

Approximately 11% of students in CS and Informatics are women. In SLIS, approximately 33% of administration is female and 50% of faculty are female. Check out the Office of Women's Affairs' Report on Status of Women at IU-Bloomington.
