Project 2

Due Midnight, September 29th.

Requirements

Construct an interest table spreadsheet, similar to the one below. We assume simple interest compounded annually, though usually interest is compounded monthly, daily, or continuously. The latter possibilities require a somewhat less obvious formula and yield somewhat faster growth for a given interest rate.

Your table should have the following properties:

The numeric values corresponding to those in the first three lines in the spreadsheet below should be refereed to by name in formulas.
The lowest dollar amount is the first one on the year 0 line.
The amounts at the top of each of the other amount columns is more than the one to its left by the increment amount.
The formula for annual simple interest compounding is: new_amount = old_amount * (1+interest_rate). The old amount is always the amount for the previous year, which is in the cell above the new amount.
Add a border around each cell in the spreadsheet that corresponds to a cell in the table below. Other cells should not have borders.

In addition, your spreadsheet should have the following properties not shown in the example below:

Insert your name and lab section number where indicated in bold.
Format in bold each cell in which you entered a formula. Cells that you copied should not be in bold. Use as few bold cells as possible.
Change the minimum amount to be the last four digits of your student number. This should automatically change all the other numbers in the principle columns.
Underneath your spreadsheet, add two bar charts, side by side. The left one shows the growth of the amounts in the first dollar column and the right one the amounts in the last dollar column. Label their axes appropriately.

Submission

Submit your spreadsheet as the file Project2.xls using the Vincent URL https://www.cs.indiana.edu/cgi-pub/a111/vincent3/student.cgi, selecting Submit an Assignment and then selecting Project 2.
Use the Vincent "View files submitted to date" to check that your submission worked, by at least checking that the file length is correct. If the file length is zero, something went wrong, and you must submit again.
