Fall Semester 2002

Practical Exam: What to review.

Please review all the methodologies used in the assignments and notes thus far.

Here's an exam from last year.

Here are some more problems of the kind you might see on the exam.

For all of them you are to set up and carry out an experiment.

Then report the results.

  1. What is the probability of getting exactly one head in the toss of four coins?

  2. What is the probability of getting exactly three heads in the toss of four coins?

  3. What is the probability of getting at least one head in the toss of four coins?

  4. What is the probability of getting at most one head in the toss of four coins?

  5. What is the probability of getting one or three heads in the toss of four coins?

  6. What is the probability of getting an even sum on two dice?

  7. What is the probability of getting 5 as the sum on two dice?

  8. What is the probability of getting at least (>=) 10 as the sum on the faces of two dice?

  9. On the toss of three coins what is the probability of an even number of heads?

  10. Given that the sum of the faces on two dice is 6, what is the probability that one face is a 4?

This last one is like a special treat, I hope it looks that way to you.
