Text Errata

Errors in the texts appear below as they are discovered. If you find an error that is not reported here, please email it to chaynes@indiana.edu. The first person to report an error will be credited on this page (username in parenthesis) and receive a bit of extra credit. 

Those that begin with "NOTE" are particularly serious and will cause problems if not corrected. Those that begin with "Typo" are minor and probably would not confuse you. Others might cause problems if not corrected. Inserted or changed text is bold.

Page 9, "degrees of freedom" are movement in the x, y, and z directions (left/right, front/back, up/down), plus role, pitch, and yaw.

Typo, page 35, paragraph 2, line 4, "if the joints move both forward and backward".

NOTE, page 48, exercise 4, line 5, replace "have the fish turn" (not move).

Typo, page 60, figure 3-2-5: the rightmost tab in the details panel is called "functions," not "questions".

Page 64, "look and feel" describes both the appearance AND BEHAVIOR of objects.

Typo, page 65, sentence 2, "The Internet is a good to place to..." , remove first "to".  (achilder)

Page 14, section 2.4, 2nd paragraph: replace "displays the result" with "displays the output" and replace "produce a result" with "produce output".

Page 14, section 2.4, 3rd paragraph, delete "usually" and replace "results" with "output"

Page 21, 2nd paragraph, delete "or variable" twice.

Page 21, 4th paragraph, delete "or a variable".
