The system used for submission of assignments is at
https://www.cs.indiana.edu/cgi-pub/a202/vincent3/student.cgi. Follow
the instructions below carefully!
-
Vincent has had problems with Internet Explorer (IE) that are
not present with Netscape.
-
It is advisable to access Vincent via the long link above. If you forget the s in https, you will get a forbidden access message.
-
Be sure that you select the right assignment
for your submission, or it won't count.
-
Always use the "View files submitted to date." option to check that your file(s)
were actually submitted
properly. The size should be correct and if you have any doubt click on the
file name link to download and inspect what you actually submitted.
Downloading does not remove the file, so you do not have to resubmit it.
-
Always save your work
either (say in your common file system or the disk of a personal machine), so
if there is any problem with submission, you can always retrieve a copy.
-
You may submit the same file any number of times for the same
assignment. Only the last submission of the file counts. Particularly if you
are pushing the deadline, be sure to submit something with time to spare. Be
careful not to submit after the due deadline, for then on-time submissions of
the same file will not count.
- For a given assignment, one member of each team must make all
submissions for the team. This assures that your team's work is
not graded multiple times. There is a penalty for violating this
rule.
-
If an assignment calls for submitting multiple files, submit them one at a
time.
-
Practice safe computing! The first time you visit the submission page
you will be required to enter your Network ID and password. Your browser remembers
this information for the duration of the session, so if you come back to the
submission page you will not have to reauthenticate. If you submit your work
and then allow another student to use your browser to submit their work, they
will be submitting under your name! So, never, ever share a browser session
with another individual. It's not hygienic and very bad things will happen!
-
You may try to use Vincent from home machines,
but it is only guaranteed to work from STC machines. Always leave time to
submit from an STC machine if an at-home submission doesn't work.
-
Until you are thoroughly comfortable with Vincent, be sure you have time to
consult a member of the teaching team if you run into trouble with submissions. If
you have any trouble, write down exactly what error message or
behavior you are getting with the date and time of the problem.
-
Grades will be posted using Post'em, not
Vincent. It will be announced when grades are posted.
-
FAQs that may help are posted on the
Vincent web page.
-
If you added the course late you may not be able to access Vincent until
24 hours before the first assignment is due. If you have difficulty at that
time, email chaynes@indiana.edu with
your full name and username, and you will be add to the
system.
