Fall Semester 2011 Students:
Please note the following: [LAST UPDATED: 12/17/11]

- Participation Scores, Final Averages and Final Grades posted and submitted. Final Grades should appear on OneStart tomorrow. Please note the following points on several issues. For your Participation
score, the maximum possible score was 100, and consistent with my
comments early in the course, while you didn't have to speak up every
day to get a good score here, you had to be in class. Those with
excessive absences were not in a position to do as well on
this. Nevertheless, the lowest Participation score was 70, and several
scored 95, which is usually as high as I go. While the quality of work in this course was very good, there were a few things here and there that led me to make a small adjustment in the grading scale. Instead of 90-80-70, the new scale is 90-79-67. Basically, I expanded the "B" and "C" ranges to 11 and 12 points respectively. The upper and lower 2.5% still represent the +/- grades in every range. With this new scale, the final grade distribution was: 6 A, 3 A-, 2 B+, 2 B, 1 B-, 2 C+, 2 C, and 1 C-, or 9 As, 5 Bs, and 5 Cs. PLEASE REMEMEBER that your final average is not just your total points divided by the total possible. The relative weights of your various averages are explained on the course "General Information" page. Now that the course is over, all other links have been disabled.
I want to thank all of you for an interesting class and a great set of final project. I hope you found the course interesting and useful.
