Fall Semester 2007

Things we need to discuss in class:

• setting up a crontab file
• understanding the Unix commands (e.g., grep, |, ps -ef and so on)
• changing your default editors (from vi to something else, for example pico)
• understanding permissions and the use of chmod
• being clear on how to navigate your account (absolute and relative paths, etc.)
• understanding the Apache folders (htdocs, logs, conf and so on...)

The reading assignment for this week from the Nietzsche book is: pp. 1-20.
