Lecture Notes Twenty-Seven:
A few loose ends.
There are many things we could discuss today.
I am going to list them here and we will approach them in some order in class.
-
Last time we talked about basic (one-way) RMI.
There's a sequel to that set of notes, that should be read, and understood.
- If I could choose just one topic for today that would be writing a simple
server in Java.
Here are the notes for developing a simple client.
- Basic networking relies on basic I/O and that needs to be known as well.
- But the chat applet is due tomorrow night, and we need to understand it
thoroughly.
(These are notes that have been posted but not covered in class completely).
- Then there's the
Daytime applet/servlet communication project.
(The code has been posted long ago, but the application appears to too complex).
- The second
chat application also needs to be explained, just like the daytime project.
We'll try to clarify as much as we can from these.
