B552: Knowledge-Based Computation, Fall 2009
Project Presentation Guidelines
The project presentations will be done in a "mini-conference" format
of brief, focused presentations followed by questions to allow the
class to follow up on points that interest them and to give useful
feedback.
Presentation Content
The presentation should briefly remind the class of your project
topic and strategies, focusing
primarily on the points that you consider most interesting and
important---the lessons learned. Preparing for these
presentations will give a head start on selecting material and
organizing it for the final papers. As you prepare the presentations, it will be useful
to keep in mind the list of issues/questions in the
guidelines for paper presentations as well as the project
components listed in the
final
project guidelines.
Presenters are encouraged to show a system screen shot or two during
the presentation, and to do a full system demo in the demo
session which will be held in lieu of a final exam, in the final
exam slot for the class.
Presentation of a demo is optional, but I hope that many will do so
and everyone should attend to see the project systems in action!
Presentation Timing
Individual project slots will be 15 minutes long (roughly 10 minutes
of presentation plus 5 for questions/discussion). Two-person project
slots will be 20 minutes (15+5) and three-person will be 25 (20+5).
To fit each day's schedule, times must be strictly enforced.
Downloading Slides
Please place your slides on the web and send Jay the URL (CCed to
David), to enable them to be rapidly downloaded in class on the day of
the presentation.
