Course Description

Credits: 3

Data mining is the process of discovering meaningful new correlations, patterns and trends by sifting through large amounts of data stored in repositories. This course will examine techniques and algorithms used for such discoveries. These techniques and algorithms are derived from domains ranging from databases, machine learning, pattern recognition, to statistical learning.
Readings: Research papers, surveys, and overviews from the data mining literature. We will not use a textbook
