If a student does not complete the Spring semester, the grade of `R' will normally remain on the student's record forever (Note: this is unlike an `I' grade, which converts to `F' after a fixed period of time). The grade of `R' may, at the instructor's discretion and under very special circumstances, be converted without completion of the Spring semester. The conditions for conversion are more stringent if such conversion is requested after the beginning of the Fall semester.
