P545 Field Trials
Observer Safety Rules
Digital (computer controlled) systems can fail in extreme ways. The value of a single
bit (1 or 0), may determine whether a vehicle turns left or right, slows down or
speed up, or performs in an entirely unanticipated way.
- Safety of persons (first) and property (second) is the highest concern.
- All participants and observers need to be vigilent and to help
maintain safe conditions. If you have any questions or concerns, at any time,
please speak with the Safety Official immediately.
The Rules

The boundaries of the Test Field are marked by traffic barriers,
orange cones, and ropes.

Within the Test Field's boundaries is an unmarked, three-meter (10 feet)
Vehicle Safety Zone. If the test vehicle strays into this zone,
the Test Driver or Safety Officer may abort the test.

Outside the Test Field is an Observer Safety Zone.
The Safety Official shall hold the start of a test until this area
is clear. If, during testing, persons or vehicles enter this
zone, the Test Driver shall abort the test.

Observers should to stay within Observation Area on the
stairs, terrace, and driveway between Assembly Hall and the
Test Field.

Please help observe these rules by advising others who may be
infringing on them.

If you see or anticipate any potentially unsafe conditions
please notify the Safety Officer immediately. The Safety Officer
may suspend a test-in-progress until your concerns are resolved.
