CSG FAQ

Q: How do I change the password, default shell, or finger information for my CS accounts?

In order to change your CS account password, default shell, or finger information you must use the web-based Account Management Page. There are two ways to authenticate and access this page so you should select the method that is appropriate for your account.

Option 1: UITS Kerberos Authentication

You can authenticate using your IU Network ID Kerberos password at:

https://www.cs.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/csg/account/krb/account.cgi

If you have an IU Network ID you will probably want to use this option. Note that you will NOT be able to use this option if your CS username is different from your UITS username or you don't have other IU accounts.

Option 2: Local Authentication

You can authenticate using your local CS account username and password at:

https://www.cs.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/csg/account/ldap/account.cgi

You should only use this option if:

  1. You do not have an IU Network ID account.
  2. You have an IU Network ID account with a username different from your CS username.

Please note that most accounts created after 2005 will NOT have a local CS password so this mechanism will not work. In this case you must use the kerberos authentication from Option 1 above.
