The policy for sponsored affiliate accounts on the CS systems is governed by the IU Computer Science Department Affiliate Account Policy. Affiliate accounts must be sponsored by a member of the CS faculty and the sponsoring faculty member must register the user through the IU Affiliate system. This can be done following the steps below. You will need the following information before you begin:

• Name

• Birthdate

• University ID Number (if they were previously with IU)

• Username (if they were previously with IU)

• Current Email Address

• Phone Number

Once you have this information, you can create the affiliate account as follows:

1. Go to the IU Accounts page at itaccounts.iu.edu
2. Click on Manage my IU computing accounts and login.
3. Click on request to add IU affiliate.

4. You will then need to fill out the information form for this account. Most of the information is self explanatory but please note the following:
   • In the "University ID" field, you will need to enter their old university ID number if they were previously at IU (ie. an ex faculty member or student). If they were here at the time when the ID was their Social Security Number, then do NOT enter that here. I would recommend just leaving that blank.
   • Be sure to select the "Bloomington" campus and BL-CSCI as the department.

   • In the "Affiliation with IU" pulldown, you probably want to select "Non-paid Research Associate".

   • In the "Reason for affiliation with IU" box, explain the affiliation. If this person was previously at IU include the username they had when they were here.

   • The Date affiliation expires cannot be more than two years from the date of application. If you enter today's date as the begin date and two years from now as the end date you will get an error. You will need to enter one day earlier for the end date.

5. Click the 'Request Affiliate' button to complete the request.

Affiliate accounts should be created within 2 days. Once you receive notification that the account was approved you can send an email to accounts-admin to request the CS account.
