HOUSING

We offer three housing options. First, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn, Bloomington, Indiana. Phone the hotel directly, (812) 334-2100. Be sure to identify yourself as a member of the Midwest AI and Cog Sci Conference. The conference rate is $59 per night (single or double occupancy) and includes a continental breakfast. Our block of rooms will be held only until April 10, so make your reservations soon. The Hampton Inn is about 2 miles from the conference sites, but parking will be available on campus (see below).

The more economical option is to stay in an IU dorm, Eigenmann Hall. Contact the Eigenmann Hall Manager, by email (scutshal@indiana.edu) or call (812) 855-8581 between 7:30am and 7pm to reserve your room. Identify yourself as a Midwest AI and Cog Sci conference participant. Rooms are $25.50 plus for single, payable at checkin (cash, check, Visa, MC). You should plan to arrive before midnight. Eigenmann Hall is located a pleasant half-mile walk from the conference site.

Finally, students may request `home stay' with local IU students by contacting student Paul Kienzle by email.

CONFERENCE SITE

The regular conference sessions will be held in Lindley Hall, the computer science building starting Saturday morning at 9am in Room 102. If you have a laser printer, then you can print our on-line campus map and a map of Bloomington.

FRIDAY WELCOMING RECEPTION AND LECTURE

The Friday evening welcoming reception and registration table will open at 6pm in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union (circled on our campus map). The Best Student Paper Award will be presented at 7:15, and the kickoff lecture by Douglas Hofstadter will begin at 7:30, also in the Frangipani Room.

FINDING YOUR WAY

To reach Bloomington from north, west or east, take interstate highways to Indianapolis, then take I-37 South to Bloomington. Exit at College Street (the first Bloomington exit) and go south. Just 2 blocks after passing the town square, take a left on 3d Street. After about half a mile, you will be forced over one more block to the south to Atwater St. Keep going east (parallel to 3d St) about a quarter mile til you see a large parking garage on your left, the Atwater Parking Garage. Park here entering from its far side - take a ticket as you enter. However the garage is free and unmonitored on weekends.

Then walk north and a little west to Lindley Hall (just north of 3d street), or north a few buildings more to the Memorial Union. The Frangipani Room is located toward the east end of the building. There are building maps inside all entrances.

For various individual personalized comments about our town, check our other information about Bloomington, the town, restaurants, etc..

We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
