Y790 - Spring 2008

This website serves as documentation for a Y790 project. It chronicles the development of a memory palace using the Virtools development environment.

20-Feb-2008 Constrained Navigation Billboard

Modified the previous billboard application to use a form of navigation which is similar to flipping through a Powerpoint presentation. I made 2 versions: one which flips between the slides instantaneously, and another which includes a short transition between slides.

Instructions:
Press the up and down keys to shuffle through the slides.

04-Feb-2008 Simple Billboard App

Implemented a simple walkthrough of a talk on quaternions. Each slide in the talk is presented as a billboard on the side of the road. The user then walks down the road looking up at the billboards to view the talk.

25-Jan-2008 First Test

The first memory palace test. Implemented a virtual world using a sample mountain environment which is provided with Virtools. First tests with interactivity include walking up to objects and having information about them appear. One object loads a webpage in the user's default browser. The other pops up a billboard with information about that object (which, unfortunately, is not textured properly).
