I propose to dedicate the next semester in formulating a plan to conduct the above mentioned study. I wish to start by repeating the ESP procedure both with and without the intermediate program profiling step and see the difference in the results if any. If the new results are convincing then I would like to propose a more formal plan for a similar experiment on lambda-lifting, as also described above.
