A Few Pictures of Riyadh at Night

I took a few pictures of Riyadh at night -- I apologize if they're not quite as good as the daytime shots.

Olaya Street is the main shopping street in Riyadh -- they have a lot of stores with recognizably American names on them, written in both English and Arabic...

There are several malls on Olaya, but one of the most popular is Al Akariah (hope I spelled that right...) Akariah outside

Inside it's pretty nice, too -- there is also a huge quartz sphere on the inside, but I couldn't take a picture of it... Akariah inside Akariah inside II

The reason I couldn't take a picture of the "big marble" is because the muta'awa (protectors of virtue and prosecutors of vice) thought that I'd really be taking a picture of the women sitting next to it. They really do take the separation of men and women pretty seriously, see... But, I'll try to get a picture of the marble one of these days...

Al Yamama Compound

I took a couple of pictures of the Al-Yamama compound when I was visiting a friend.
