Amethyst House     download

Our Mission is to provide a foundation for sober living by partnering with individuals, familes and communities impacted by addictions and substance abuse issues, offering quality recovery services and guidance for clean, sober and healthy living.
Amethyst House was incorporated in August of 1980 as "Ray of Love". The founders were a group of concerned recovering community members that were aware of the need for safe housing for individuals beginning the recovery process from alcohol and other drugs. The name was changed to Amethyst House, Inc. in 1989. The rich, purple, semi-precious amethyst stone was called "Without Intoxication" in mythology. The Greek's believed the stone would prevent people from getting drunk. Today, the stone is popular to people recovering and healing from addictions. We added our Outpatient Services in 2000 in Bloomington and opened our Outpatient office in Evansville in 2001. The Evansville location closed in the end of February, 2012, but Amethyst continues to provide services in the community through Counseling For Change, located at 1133 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714 (tel: 812 491 2615).
