  • Fall 2011: All A338 Participation Scores, Final Averages, and Final Grades are posted on OnCourse. Final Grades have been submitted to the Registrar and should be visible to you on OneStart Saturday. A couple of notes. First, the Participation score had a maximum of 100 and the scores ranged from 70 to 95. While you didn't have to be speaking up every class meeting to earn a high score, as I mentioned at the very start of the term, you had to be there. Hence, lower Participation scores were often the consequence of excessive absenteeism. Second, consistent with what I said all along, I took the liberty of dropping the initial grading scale to account for the low HW averages (and other things) since they were part of the learning experience. I dropped the entire grading scale by 4.5% and retained the 10-point per grade structure. So the lowest A- went from 90.0% to 85.5%, the lowest B- from 80.0% to 75.5%, and so on. The upper and lower 2.5% of each range still determined the +/- grades in each range. Finally, remember your average is not just adding all the points and dividing by the total. It used the weighted values you can find on the General Information page of the website. Final grade distribution was 4 A, 3 A-, 2 B+, 3 B, 1 B-, and 1 C+, or 7 As, 6Bs, and 1C. Once again: thanks to all of your for being active members of this course over the semester. I hope you found it a valuable and worthwhile experience.

  • ALSO NOTE: Since the term is over, most of the main course links have been disabled.
