Q1: What is Vincent?

Vincent is a web-based application designed to assist in the management of courses involving the distribution and submission of electronic materials.

Q2: Is the source code available?

If you are in the CS department at IUB, it is available under /l/vincent3/modules and /l/vincent3/cgi.

If you aren't in the CS department at IUB, you may post a message to cs dot system at cs dot indiana dot edu (replace 'dot' and 'at' with appropriate symbols) and request access to the Vincent source. Currently, no distribution mechanisms exist.

Q3: What do I need to do to use Vincent for my class?

A few steps:
  1. If you have not already, log into the class account and run 'makecgi' at the prompt. This creates a publically accessible webspace for the class (per CS department FAQ at http://www.cs.indiana.edu/hyplan-info.html). You can also read /l/cgi/README, available from the UNIX filesystem.
  2. Post to cs.vincent, and request an account for your class. Include the usernames of all individuals who should have administrative access to the installation (trusted AIs, etc.)
Currently, at IUB, you must have an account on CS machines to make use of this software. Currently, noone outside of the CS department at IUB knows about the software.
