From the IMU, Lindley is reached by heading due south. The front of it faces Dunn's Woods, the big green blob in the map above. For those needing an elevator (the first floor is a half-flight of steps up) it's in the back, on the northeast corner. A picture of Lindley's front is less helpful than it might seem, since most of the buildings on campus look similar:
The IMU has campus maps at the front desk. If you want a really detailed one it's here, but beware: this is a 6 Mbyte PDF file. Other than Lindley Hall, you may want to use the Wildermuth Gymn diagonally across from the circular drive at the IMU, or (further away to the northeast), the SRSC which is a more modern facility. You can buy a day pass to SRSC.
The weather in Bloomington is typical Midwestern, capable of rapid changes. Bring along a jacket at least. check the forecast often but don't put too much faith in it.
You know a town is boring when the general visit information describes it as "serene". Brown County Park is worth a trip, but primarily in the Fall when it's the season for leaf color changing. At least one insitute at IU is of great interest to most people. and if attendees The Lilly Library has some good collections and the IMU is diagonally across the street from the I.M.Pei designed Art Museum, which has a few small collections.
The music scene here is highly active. Check the Music Department's Prelude schedule to see what is on campus. Right now it only shows up to Sept 24, but there's two recitals and an orchestral performance Sunday night before the meeting. Near the end of the semester there will be 6-10 events daily on campus, most of them free. Everything is a short walk away from the IMU, including most of the night clubs and jazz venues.
