Benjamin Robert Burger
We praise and thank the Lord for Benjamin Robert Burger, born 7:00 P.M. EDT April 7, 2006. He weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 21½ inches long. His sisters Elizabeth, Ruth, Sarah, Mariah & Hannah are delighted to have a brother, even though some weren’t so sure until they met him face to face!
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. —Psalm 127:3-5a (NIV)
Benjamin comes from the Hebrew name בִנְיָמִין (Binyamin), which means son of the right hand. One of our 8-year-old friends said the real meaning is “finally, a boy!” Another young friend mused: “Now that Daddy will have someone to play swords with!”
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. —Psalm 34:7-8 (NIV)
God’s tender mercies were evident in so many ways. Stacy enjoyed the planned water birth at home with midwives and a doula. Just past midnight she nearly fainted from sudden blood loss and was taken via ambulance to the hospital where we had medical backup. Our neighbor Jenny, a medical student familiar with the hospital, drove Bob & Ben there just minutes after Stacy. The resident on call removed a small piece of placental membrane, and the bleeding stopped. After receiving over 2 liters of fluids by IV, Stacy felt much better, and she was released that morning. A couple days earlier Stacy’s parents had come in their fifth wheel for a visit on their way back from Florida, and they took care of the girls during labor and the first two days after birth.
