Study Information Sheet
Just Be Opinion Survey
You are invited to participate in an evaluation of the effectiveness of the Just Be presentation given by the Women In Computing group of Indiana University.
Information
This study is comprised of two surveys asking questions about 1) Your background 2) The meaning of 'diversity' 3) How 'diversity' may influence the field of computing. Each survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete (for a total of approximately 20 minutes). The first survey will be available from noon on February 27th to noon March 3, 2008. This should be completed before you go to your A110 lecture section on March 3. The second survey will be available from noon on March 3 to noon on March 5, 2008. The second survey should be completed after seeing the Just Be presentation on March 3. We anticipate approximately 200 students will participate in these optional surveys.
Benefits
The study will help inform the Women In Computing group (and the Just Be committee more particularly) if their presentation meets its goals. These results will be used guide future updates to the Just Be program.
Each survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Confidentiality
Compensation
Students who participate will be awarded five extra credit points by Prof. Pope towards their final grade. Participation is not mandatory, and you may elect to write a 120 word essay on a topic specified by Prof. Pope instead of taking these surveys to receive the same five points. You may not do both. Deciding not to paricipate in the survey will not negatively affect your grade.
