paper accepted

I just got a paper accepted to the GCETE (Global Congress on Engineering and Technology Education). It's one on a project I worked on with Dr. Wolfer (for SMART 2002). If all goes well I could be spring breaking in sunny San Paulo, Brazil :)

i can walk

Today, I got to switch the full-leg brace I've been wearing for the past 3 weeks for a much smaller brace that actually allows me to bend my knee. I rock.

I can fit in cars a lot better now. Still can't climb stairs though.

toolbox

Haha, Ben forgot his own password to his project's website, and now we're laughing at him as he tries to get in.

It's http://www.givealink.org btw. Y'all should go there and donate your bookmarks :)

i hate bugs

I just spent about an hour scrutinizing a few hundred lines of code before determining that

bottom = (2 * pi * Sigmas_new(j)^2)^2;

should have been

bottom = (2 * pi * Sigmas_new(j)^2)^(dim/2);

At least it works now. (I was writing an expectation maximization algorithm).

end-of-semester drag

I totally feel like the semester is over. I constantly have to resist the temptation to sleep in late, work on easily delayable projects, or do nothing at all. For instance, I want to learn how to use functors (in the C++ STL sense), and to learn Python. I also want to make a web page and resume for myself. But all that should probably wait until I finish my independent study, or at least until after I've packaged it up a little. Oh well.

On the bright side, the other classes I have are winding down and don't really require much time anymore. And thanksgiving is next week which I plan on taking completely off.

RIP paperclip

I've been bending this little paperclip into all sorts of shapes for like a week and it finally broke.

I guess that means I have to haul down to the copy room and take another one.

Checking out this crazy Blogger thing

So I'm just checking this out, now that I've gotten the chance to set it up.
