Free Geocoder:
Geocode any Address in the United States

Enter an address anywhere in the United States:
You can enter multiple addresses in a single query, but MAKE SURE you put one and only one entire address on each line in the box below.

  • Note this system is still in the testing stage. If it crashes then email me and tell me what your actions were
  • *Please* also realize that due to limitations in the geocoding this system does NOT work very well for addresses in rural areas, but I will update my database as soon as the US Census Bureau updates their TIGER/Line files.
  • This service not giving you what you need? Try two other free geocoding services (though they also provide commercial services for bulk needs), which should have different address correcting heuristics: Geocoder.us or Ontok.
  • All JavaScript, Python, and HTML source code copyright Matthew Kane, 2005-2006. Information provided by this tool may not be used to target or discriminate against any individuals. Clicking on the following button implies your agreement with these terms.

Do you enjoy using this service? Would you like to have a fully functioning geocoder for your own use?
    No Problem!
    • You will need roughly 800 Megabytes of disk space and of course a high speed Internet connection.
    • I provide the geocoding database itself along with a graphical example perl script that will query the database and return the correct latitude and longitude.
    • You of course are free to modify this script or write your own.
    • If you are not interested in modifying this script or you are not familiar with perl then the script I provide will still suit your basic needs for individual address geocoding. Enjoy!
