Photography was my initial major when I started college as a freshman a couple decades ago. I remember my Dad's initial reaction, "Are you sure they give a degree in that?"
In high school I had been the photo editor for the school newspaper and had gotten some photos into the annual school art magazine (my first peer reviewed work).
Although I entered college as a photo major, I initially came out with a couple business degrees. Later I went back for a masters degree in computer science.

I've kept with photography as a hobby and switched to using a large-format 4x5 camera almost 10 years ago. Eventually I'll get some pictures posted here when I get some time to update this page, but for now here's a picture my wife took of me taking pictures at the Smokey Mountain National Park. Once when we were out in the woods some hikers wandered by while I was focusing my camera and asked her why I had the focusing cloth over my head - she said it was because I was shy.
