Building these web pages:
For help in setting up the stylesheets for these web pages, the book
"CSS The Missing Manual" by David Sawyer McFarland, published
by O'Reilly, was invaluable. I had originally bought the book when setting
up some Java Sever Faces (JSF) code for a project I was working on, but it
was very helpful in setting up the CSS for these pages too. It also pointed
out a lot of "gotchas" with being compatible with Internet Explorer 6. It
also points you to some useful sites such as the following:
ColorSchemer which has a vast
set of color schemes for fashion-challenged folks such as me. It shows colors
that go together and provides their hex values as tooltips when you mouse over
each color.
The ColorSchemer web site also has a handy little tool called ColorPix that you
can download for free. It shows the hex values and a little preview as you scroll
over colors on your screen (in case you are trying to match an existing scheme or
just think some color you see on a web page is cool).
TankedUP, Which has nothing to do
with filling your car or pounding beers. It is a dive shop in the Middle East that
is run by a couple Brits (at least if you believe what you read on the web). Anyway,
they have a link to some CSS development tips on how they set up their web site. Thanks
Dean and Martin (really, that's what they say their names are).
