The Development of Interoperable OpenGIS Data Provider for MGE based on OLE DB
Abstract
The OLE DB data access technologies have been developed to overcome ODBC's limitations and to use the advantages of component technologies. The OpenGIS consortium already proposed the abstract specification for interoperability as the standard of data access model independent of distributed computing platforms. The proposed OpenGIS Specification for OLE/COM was based on the use of the OLE DB and ADO facilities. The OpenGIS OLE/COM Implementation Specification can be used to develop the spatial provider which provides OLE DB data sources.
This project presents the standard interfaces of the Data Source Access Interface which can be used to uniformly connect and then access different data sources independent of the types of GIS servers although it mainly deals with the issues of implementing the OpenGIS data provider for MGE. The real implementation of the open spatial data server shows good applicability to diverse spatial data sources, like MGE, Gothic, and DXF.
