Land's End and Stonehenge (Nov. 15, 1999)
Land's End is the southwestern corner of England. It's part of Devon and Cornwall, which is beautiful in its own right.
Land's End is a stark, stormy, seaside - while we were there around 2 hours it rained 3 separate times. I got the feeling that was no singular occurance. Both JD and I were taken by the place - I think it's because we grew up a long way from the ocean, and at Land's End, you can really see and feel its power and attraction.
I got a picture of JD at the "First and Last Refreshment House in England"...
Stonehenge
Stonehenge is one of the oldest man-made things in England - historically, it's of great import in tracing the beliefs of some of our ancient ancestors. But to look at, Stonehenge in the sunlight is just another old pile of rocks waiting to fall down. Before those that find the place special get too bent out of shape, I've seen Stonehenge in the fog and found it then mystically and almost surreally beautiful. I'll let you look at the pictures of the sunny Stonehenge to decide.
I took JD's picture here, too.
