Jess is a rule-based expert system shell written in Java. JConsult extends Jess with a graphical user interface for building expert systems. The applet below is a simple prototype of a demo expert system that uses the extension. The applet runs a demo rule base that assists a user in classifying animals of a zoo. Among the animals in the zoo are cheetahs, tigers, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, penguins, and albatrosses. The applet requires support for JDK 1.1.

You may downloaded a zip-file that contains both code and documentation of either JConsult Version 1.2 (requires Jess 4.4) or JConsult Version 1.4 (requires Jess 5.0).
