Abstract:
Workflow orchestration tools have gained recognitionfor their role in scientific discovery. As the number ofworkflows proliferate, reuse and reproducibility become issuesof importance. Reuse of a workflow is enhanced when thesystem on which it runs guarantees execution. An increasinglyprevalent of reuse however, begs for interoperability betweenworkflow systems. We carried out a comparative evaluationof the practicality of workflow interoperability by focusing onsub-workflow interoperability and evaluating different systemswithin that form. The approach shows surprisingly uniformperformance, relegating the tradeoffs to qualitative differences.
