Volunteer Community Trainer
Requirements
COMING SOON
This unique opportunity allows students on campus host a service dog in training.
Those interested in this program will be paired up with another member of ICAN at IU and will both share the responsibility of hosting one dog. It is possible to participate in the program even if individuals live in a location that does not allow pets (including campus residence halls). Each volunteer community trainer pair will be responsible for hosting a dog several times over the course of the school year for 3-4 weeks at a time.
During these few weeks, the dog should accompany you everywhere you go, including class.
Important Notes to Consider:
This program will require an extensive amount of training through ICAN and a large time commitment.
While we hope to subsidize some of the costs of keeping the dog, there may be additional costs.
Individuals will be responsible for traveling to and from Indy to pick up and return the dog when necessary.
