About ICAN at IU
ICAN at IU was officially founded in September of 2017 and held our first callout meeting in mid-October of 2017. As of January of 2018, the organization's size has since tripled!
We are primarily a group of dedicated students with a passion for both dogs and helping those in our community. We also welcome Indiana University faculty or individuals living within Bloomington or the surrounding areas.
Our goal is to raise awareness about service dogs and raise money for the Indiana Canine Assistant Network. We hope that our support will better not only the individuals we will be working with but future generations to come!

Get Involved
We ask that general members attend monthly meetings and fundraising events. Examples of potential events are dine-and-donates and puppy socialization activities on campus. This is the role most of our members hold, and while there is limited contact with the service dogs in training, we still promise that this will be a fun and rewarding experience for you.

We ask that volunteer community trainers commit to hosting a service dog multiple times over the course of the school year for 3-4 weeks at a time in addition to attending monthly meetings and fundraising events. In order to be allowed to keep a service dog in training with them, volunteer trainers will be required to complete additional extensive training through ICAN's program itself.
Please note this is a competitive portion of our organization. |
We currently offer 6 committees: social media, fundraising, advertising, recruitment, finance, and outreach & education. Committee members help plan and/or advertise events within the organization and speak at outside events such as giving educational presentations within the community.
