P515 combines introductions to three areas: formal logic, specification and verification of imperative programs, and specification of system behaviour. Students registered to the course under the P415 listing would be dispensed of some of the more challenging projects and exam questions, but otherwise the course will be run at the graduate level.

Topic: Machine Learning Bioinformatic
Course URL (syllabus link or course homepage)
We aim to introduce a broad range of applications of bioinformatics methods and tools to solve problems in genomics and molecular biology. Prior to this class, the students should have learned basic methods and theories in bioinformatics, e.g. by taking I519. In this class, we will focus on how to apply them to solving biological problems in real life. Some advanced computational techniques that in bioinformatics, e.g. Hidden Markov model (HMM) and Bayesian Network (BN).

Course File (syllabus or course advertisement)
This course is designed to cover the mathematical foundations of databases. The main focus is to study the design and semantics of search and query languages across a spectrum of database models. This spectrum includes the relational db model, complex and object-oriented db models, and semi-structured dbs models. Time permitting, we will cover some topics in data mining, machine learning, information retrieval, cloud and parallel computing, etc. as they relate to search in large data sets.
