Before Rice, Arun worked at HCL-Hewlett Packard Ltd.† in the Technical Consultancy Group and at the Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T.) New Delhi as a Senior Scientific Officer on a project to parallelize a weather forecasting model. He got his Masters in Computer Science from the I.I.T., New Delhi and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the same place.
My Advisor: Late Ken Kennedy
My doctorate advisor, Ken Kennedy, died on February 7, 2007 after a battle with cancer. I respected him deeply and considered him my role model. His departure left a vacuum that will never be filled. Even though New York Times carried his obituary, I paid by own little tribute to him at a workshop arranged by Rice in his honor.
