Central Indiana Celebration
of
Women in Computing

February 20-21, 2004
Canyon Inn

McCormick's Creek State Park
Spencer, Indiana

The conference will bring together students and faculty from Butler University, DePauw University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Indiana University, and Purdue University together with industry leaders for a regional gathering to focus on issues of women in computing. The goal of the conference is to provide a low cost, regionally tailored supplement to the nationally known Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference.

The conference will open at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon with registration and a poster session. Dinner on Friday is provided, as are accomondations at the Canyon Inn. The conference will continue through lunch on Saturday, and will feature:

  • Keynote speaker: Dr. Leah Jamieson, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, Purdue Schools of Engineering, "Engineering, Community, Passion, and Balance". Sponsored by Microsoft. Friday at 5:30 p.m.
  • Panels on cutting edge technical issues and on social issues of relevance to undergraduate and graduate women in computing. Panel members consist of faculty members, students, and area industry leaders.
  • Creative social opportunities to interact with faculty, students, and area industry leaders.
  • On Friday night, we've planned two alternative activities: for the brave, a moonlight stroll through the dark woods to Wolf Cave -- for the faint-of-heart, a slumber party, popcorn and film.
