About me

About me
I am a Ph.D graduated from School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University Bloomington, and my advisor is Professor Johan Bollen

You can read my CV, Resume, Research Statement, and PhD thesis Email me at xshuai@indiana.edu.

My overall research focuses on mining large-scale of heterogeneous user-generated data (e.g. social media messages, call detail record, photo tags, etc.) to provide relevant information. On one side, those data contain rich information about users' interests, opinions and behaviors, which can be further explored to provide contextual knowledge for content ranking and recommendation in the microscopic level (i.e. information filtering). On the other side, the local user-to-user interactions can be leveraged and aggregated to generate new indicators via statistical methods, to infer human behavior and phenomena in the macroscopic level (i.e. information transformation)
