You and your family can help support people experiencing homelessness by considering a financial contribution such as:

• Monthly gift-- Consider making Martha's House a part of your regular billing and donations schedule by giving once a month.
• NAP Tax Credits-- Consider purchasing Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credits from Martha's House.
• Adopt-A-Room-- Issue a challenge to your church, business, fraternity, sorority, club, or family to adopt one of our rooms for a week, month, or a year.
• Honor/Memory-- Make a contribution in honor of a special someone or to memorialize someone who has passed.

What Your Contribution Can Provide:

• $560.00 will provide one night of shelter for up to 28 residents.
• $140.00 will provide one week of shelter services for a resident.
• $60.00 will provide emergency shelter for one resident for three nights.
• $30.00 will provide two months work of toilet paper (96 rolls).
• $10.00 will pay for a week of laundry (80 loads).

Volunteer: Volunteering to work closely with people experiencing homelessness is one of the best ways to understand homelessness & assist in meeting immediate needs at the same time. Leadership Volunteers:

• Board Members: Martha's House is governed by a Board of Directors that sets direction and policy for the agency. The work of the Board is accomplished in committees.
• Committee Members: Committees are comprised of board members and volunteers with professional expertise or general interest in the committee's are of responsibility. Some committees are: development/fundraising, planning, program, and public relations.

Leadership Committees (make body move) Community Awareness Volunteers:

• Homeward Bound Team Recruitment Leader: An annual awareness and fundraising event for several community agencies which is held in early April each year. The TRL will help recruit teams to walk on Martha's House's behalf.
• Special Events Team Member: Work at events such as the Monroe County Fair to promote Martha's House in the community and raise awareness of homelessness in our area.

Contributions Volunteers:

• Supply Drive Coordinator: Will coordinate the clothing, food, and supply drives that are often undertaken by companies and student groups to benefit Martha's House.
• Donations Volunteers: Assist with sorting donations of clothing and miscellaneous items. These items are given, free of charge, to those in need even if they do not stay at the shelter.

Administrative Volunteers:

• Volunteer Coordinator: Work with staff to coordinate volunteer schedules to meet the need of the organization.
• General Office Volunteer: Assist with clarical duties, such as typing, filing, photocopying, and answering telephones during the day.

Direct Service Volunteers:

• Resident Advocates: Assist a person experiencing homelessness with job searches, help residents obtain appropriate government assistance, make daily or weekly visits with individuals, or help residents move and establish new households. You will be amazed how much can be accomplished with a seemingly small donation of time and compassion.
• Adult Education Volunteers: Educate residents through life-skills classes, such as resume writing, credit counseling, new parent and new grandparent discussions, health care concerns, and tutoring for residents working on their GED.

Our Wish List: Personal hygiene products (like deodorant and shampoo), toiletries (like toilet paper and tampons), clothing, food, copy machine, copy paper, laundry soap, pocket calendars, rain ponchos, storage space, trash bags, umbrellas, zip lock bags, & books.
Material Assistance: You and your family can help by saving gently used clothes no longer needed which are still in season. Martha's House services both men and women; however 80% of services provided are for men and therefore more men's clothing items are needed than women's. Some of the items most in need include:

• Socks
• Underwear
• Undershirts/t-shirts
• Men's jeans
• XXL sweatshirts
• Hooded sweatshirts
• Bras
• Panties

You can also purchase an extra box of items such as toothpaste, laundry soap, or other similar items when doing your regular shopping. All of these items can be donated to Martha's House to help people experiencing homelessness. Some common items that are always need include:

• Cans of coffee
• Creamer
• Toothpaste
• Deodorant
• Foot powder
• Tampons
• Shampoo
• Soap
• Laundry detergent
• Small Ziploc baggies
• Large garbage bags
• Paper towers
• Food items that can be eaten alone as a meal, such as canned spaghetti, canned tuna, or hearty soups

Note: Just about everything you need to have a comfortable home, Martha's House also needs in order to provide our residents a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
